Laura Ellyn is an illustrator, printmaker and comic artist. She began making art some time before developing a long-term memory, and at some point decided that comics were an ideal medium for communicating ideas and stories. Her work tends to walk the line between personal and political, focusing on themes of gender, class, culture, and race. Her comics and other artwork have been featured in numerous publications and exhibits in Canada and the US. She currently lives in Montreal, where she swears she’ll finish her BFA in Print Media someday. Like all feminists, she has two cats, with whom she spends her days preparing for the coming matriarchal insurrection. Her first book, En Greve: A Graphic Account of the Montreal Student Strike, is available from Friesen Press.
